Since its inception in 1912, Isis has featured scholarly articles, research notes, and commentary on the history of science, medicine, and technology and their cultural influences. Review essays and book reviews on new contributions to the discipline are also included. An official publication of the History of Science Society, Isis is the oldest English-language journal in the field.
Individual and student membership in the History of Science Society includes a subscription to both Isis and the annual thematic journal Osiris. HSS membership is based on the calendar year. HSS memberships also help support the IsisCB Explore, an open-access discovery service based on over 50 years of bibliographic data collected in the Isis Bibliography of the History of Science.
