The Journal of Cuneiform Studies, (JCS), a journal of the American Schools of Oriental Research (ASOR), will join the University of Chicago Press journals program beginning in 2019 (Volume 71). The journal will continue to be published in print and online, and, for the first time, in HTML and e-Book formats. Institutional rates will be tiered to best serve the size and research needs of each organization. Individual subscriptions are a benefit of membership in ASOR. Subscriptions are also available to non-members.

Founded in 1947 by the Baghdad School of the American Schools of Oriental Research, the Journal of Cuneiform Studies (JCS) presents technical and general articles on the history and languages of the ancient Mesopotamian and Anatolian literate cultures. Articles appear in English, French, and German.

“We’re pleased and honored to partner with the American Schools of Oriental Research to publish the Journal of Cuneiform Studies. This partnership supports the Press’s mission of reaching a broad international community through excellence in scholarship and best practices in publishing,” says UCP’s Journal’s Director, Ashley Towne.

JCS will be represented at an upcoming conference held by ASOR, the American Anthropological Association, and the Society for American Archaeology, among others.

Since the end of the 19th century, ASOR has been on the forefront of research efforts in the Near East. Today, ASOR is an international organization with 2,000 members comprised of archaeologists, cultural heritage professionals, and historians whose mission is to initiate, encourage, and support research into, and public understanding of, the history and cultures of the Near East and wider Mediterranean, from the earliest times. ASOR's contributions include a robust journal, monograph, and digital publications program that is directed both to scholars and the greater public; an increasingly large Annual Meeting; generous fellowship and grant support; a cultural heritage initiative; and public outreach lectures, e-publications, and online resources, all directed toward our 15,500 "Friends of ASOR" and other non-specialist enthusiasts interested in the Near Eastern and Mediterranean past. Learn more about ASOR at asor.org.
